1. Who we are

Giving Something Back Junior Golf Foundation ("the Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation and 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 42-3247932, located at 3056 Castro Valley Blvd, #58, Castro Valley, CA 94546. This policy explains how we handle information collected through this website, including our online Application for Assistance, Donation, and Contact forms.

By using this website or submitting a form, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not submit information to us through the site — you're welcome to contact us directly instead.

2. Information we collect

From applicants and families

When a parent or guardian submits an Application for Assistance on behalf of a junior golfer, we collect:

• The junior golfer's name, date of birth, city/county of residence, and golf history
• Parent or guardian name and contact information
• Financial information submitted to demonstrate financial need
• A personal statement describing the family's circumstances and the golfer's goals

This information is submitted to us by a parent or guardian, not directly by the minor applicant. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website.

From donors

If you donate through the links on our Donate page, your payment information is collected and processed directly by PayPal or Venmo, not by us. We may separately receive your name, email, and donation amount from those platforms in order to send a thank-you and, where applicable, a tax receipt.

From site visitors generally

If you use our Contact form, we collect your name, email address, the reason for your inquiry, and your message. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers on this site beyond basic, aggregated site-analytics tools we may use to understand overall traffic.

3. How we use this information

• To evaluate applications for financial assistance and make award decisions through our Selection Committee
• To communicate with applicants, parents/guardians, donors, and other visitors who contact us
• To administer awarded assistance (for example, coordinating payment of lesson, tournament, travel, or equipment costs)
• To maintain accurate financial and donor records for our nonprofit reporting and tax purposes
• To share program updates or impact stories, but only with consent from a parent or guardian, and never using a minor's full name or identifying financial details without that consent

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use applicant financial information for any purpose other than evaluating and administering assistance.

4. Information about minors

Our programs serve junior golfers between the ages of 8 and 18. Because our Application for Assistance necessarily involves information about a minor, we require that the application be submitted by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for consenting to its collection on the minor's behalf.

We limit the collection of a minor's information to what is reasonably necessary to evaluate and administer assistance, and we do not publish a minor's photo, full name, or family financial details in any public materials (including this website or social media) without separate, written parental or guardian consent.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances:

• With members of our Board of Directors and Selection Committee, solely for the purpose of reviewing and deciding on applications
• With service providers who help us operate (for example, a payment processor, email provider, or forms/hosting provider), who are only permitted to use the information to provide that service to us
• Where required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or government request
• With a golf course, instructor, tournament, or travel vendor directly involved in fulfilling an awarded benefit, limited to what that vendor needs to provide the service

6. How we protect information

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information families and donors share with us, including limiting access to application materials to Board members and committee reviewers involved in the decision, and using reputable third-party processors (PayPal, Venmo) for payment handling rather than storing payment details ourselves. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. How long we keep information

We retain application materials for as long as reasonably necessary to evaluate the application, administer any awarded assistance, and satisfy our recordkeeping obligations as a 501(c)(3) organization, after which we securely delete or destroy the records unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Your rights and choices

Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to:

• Ask what information we hold about their family or child
• Request a correction to inaccurate information
• Request that we delete information, subject to our need to retain certain records for legal or financial reporting purposes
• Withdraw consent for the use of a minor's story or likeness in public materials at any time

9. Terms of use

This website and its content are provided for general informational purposes about the Foundation, our programs, and how to apply for or contribute to them. We try to keep information accurate and current but make no guarantees about completeness or accuracy, and program details, deadlines, and eligibility criteria may change.

Submitting an application does not guarantee an award of assistance. Awards are made at the discretion of the Selection Committee based on eligibility, need, and available funding.

All content on this site — including text, graphics, and the Foundation's name and marks — belongs to Giving Something Back Junior Golf Foundation unless otherwise noted, and may not be used without our permission.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our programs or practices change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
